Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar has introduced a groundbreaking new bill, which will end months of waiting for nonprofits to receive payments.

The ‘Get Nonprofits Paid Act’ will ensure prompt payments to the many nonprofits working for New York City. Under Rajkumar’s bill, the City will be required to pay nonprofit vendors within 30 days.

In a step to end the city’s battle with “ghost cars”—vehicles with counterfeit, obscured, or missing license plates—Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar has introduced the Ghostbuster Act.

“I authorized this commonsense legislative package to address the reckless use of e-bikes, one of the biggest issues at the top of New Yorker’s minds,” said [Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar], “Last year we witnessed a record number of deaths from e-bike riders disregarding traffic laws and using dangerous, reconditioned batteries. New York City and all local municipalities will now have the power to shut down illegal pot shops, according to Gov. Hochul. 

Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar (D-Woodhaven) penned the Stop Marijuana Over-proliferation and Keep Empty Operators of Unlicensed Transactions Act, colloquially known as the SMOKEOUT Act, to combat the illicit shops, and provisions from this bill are to be included in the state budget, according to a press release from her office. In the other house of legislature, the bill was carried by state Sen. Leroy Comrie (D-St. Albans).

An ‘Operation Smokeout’ campaign spearheaded by Assemblymember Jenifer Rajkumar has brought multiple rallies across the city to advocate for passage of the “SMOKEOUT Act,” ahead of the bill’s anticipated success this month.
